Sympathy in Navy

Today I was inspired by the Moxie Fab World, Tuesday Trigger: I'm Craving Navy!

I was completely inspired by the photo.(photo credit)  I love the clean fresh look... white accented by a good dose of navy.

I confess, navy is not a "go to" color of mine, but it is of my daughter and while working with it, a few other color/navy combinations came to mind... so don't be surprised if I go on a navy kick for a few days.

My project is a sympathy card.  I have always found they are best made ahead, since there is often too much emotion to make them when needed.

To ink this stamp(Red Poppies from Rubbernecker -- like the irony?) I inked the stems of this stamp with Tim Holtz Distress Ink: Stormy Sky and the blossom with Faded Jeans.  I then took a paint brush inked with Chipped Sapphire and accented some of the details of the stamp.  After a quick "huff" I stamped the image on white cardstock.  The sentiment "In Loving Memory" was stamped with black.

The rest of the card uses background stamps: Abstract Roses embossed in white & Flourish Shadow stamped with Faded Jeans (and edges sponged with Stormy Sky).

I’m a Paper Piecing Fool!

LOL!  Well, not exactly, but I have a paper pieced fool to show you!

The Moxie Fab World blog is having a paper piecing challenge to celebrate the “Stamp It” techniques magazine.  Of course I thought of the Starving Artistamps stamp set  “Antidepresstamps ~ Royality"!”

On the jester, I used colored pencils to add detail and dimension to the pieces.  The edges of the flags and other elements were inked with Tim Holtz Distress Inks.

Card details:

• Size- 5.5” x 5.5”
• Stamps: Antidepresstamps~Royalty from Starving Artistamps;
• Ink: StazOn Jet Black (sentiment and outlines of Jester and flags; Tim Holtz Distress Ink Walnut Stain and Brushed Corduroy;
• Patterned Paper: Sweet Nectar die cut card pad and tag pad by K & Co.;
• Cardstock: Bazzill;
• Accessories: Colored pencils, Wire, Foam tape, Stickles (glitter glue)

An inspired valentine

Today’s card is a Valentine that was inspired by the Tuesday Trigger Challenge. 

I love the colors and pattern of the paper (lid top?), the sweet little white fudge hearts, and the colors of the ribbon!

I used the scallops from the fluted cups, the pattern and colors of the paper (with the help of a Rubbernecker stamp), the hearts, and the ribbon colors as a jumping off point for my card.

The stamped image--under the die cut heart window is from Rubbernecker Stamp Company. I colored it with colored pencils.

Supplies:

• Stamps: Floral Circle SKU:507-02 by Rubbernecker
• Paper: various cardstocks and dp from My Mind's Eye (red/pink)
• Ink: StazOn Jet Black
• Accessories: heart and corner punches, spellbinders dies, colored pencils, home made glimmer mist (perfect pears + water), foam tape

Jewel Tone Flowers

Moxie Fab World is having a few color challenges…and this one was calling my name!

Though I couldn’t find the specific colors in my local stores, I found very close matches in my stash.

Materials:

• Garden Box Set (SKU:509), one flower from Create a Garden set; and Garden Phrase Set (SKU:508); all from Rubbernecker Stamp Company;
• Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Concord Grape; Black Soot; and Broken China); Stampin’ Up! Classic Ink (Summer Sun);
• Stickles (diamond)
• Foam tape
• Stampin’ Up! Very Vanilla Cardstock; Dark purple cardstock (unknown)

I stamped the boxed flowers on cardstock and hand trimmed them.  I stamped the flower and the sentiment in the center of the main card.  The 3 boxes were attached with foam tape.  The main card was attached to the dark purple card base and stickles were applied to each flower center.

A clean and simple card (CAS) that lets the colors really shine!

Since these stamps are from Rubbernecker Stamp Company…I wanted to take a moment to welcome 3 new design team members to the Rubbernecker Team!
