Sisterhood Sketch Challenge

Welcome to Sisterhood Sunday!

This week's challenge with the sisterhood is a sketch:

And here is my take on it:

 Materials:

• Stamp: Santa With Joy Sign SKU:52-01;
• Ink: StazOn Jet Black
• Paper: dp by Bo Bunny and Memory Box; Cardstock: Bazzill;
• Accessories: glitter (Recollections-Michaels); buttons, Prismacolor pencils, foam tape, Spellbinders dies; Chipboard letter stickers by American Crafts;

Description:

The "Santa with Joy Sign" stamp was stamped with waterproof ink on white cardstock.  The image was colored with colored pencils and blended with blending stumps and baby oil.  After die cutting and embossing the image with a circle die, glue and fine clear glitter were applied on the furry parts of Santa's suit.

The image was mounted on a red circle and black scalloped circle.  The base of the card is black cardstock, layered with red cardstock and patterned paper.  To complete the card, the buttons were threaded with paper and mounted; Cardstock stickers were mounted on red strip, and the main image was mounted with foam tape.

Rubbernecker Holiday Blog Hop!

Here is my card:

Materials:

• Stamps: Scroll Peace SKU:1204 SO; Zac SKU:596-01; Snowflake Set SKU:587;
• Ink: Adirondack Pigment Ink: Snow Cap; StazOn Jet Black;
• Papers: White and Kraft cardstock; Memory Box Brioche and Pixie papers;
• Accessories: Prismacolor pencils; foam tape; Spellbinders die (scalloped square);

Other details:
The kraft paper was die cut, first.  I stamped the snowman image on the Kraft paper and then on white paper.  On the Kraft paper, I used the snowflake set and the white pigment ink to stamp snowflakes--overlapping some on the stamped image.  The Kraft paper also got white pigment ink on the edges.  I colored the snowman and bird images on the white paper, cut them out, and placed them on the Kraft paper image, popping out some layers with foam tape.

The scalloped square was layered onto patterned paper that I had sanded the edges to reveal white.  The sentiment was stamped on patterned paper, trimmed it, and mounted on the card with foam tape.

Vintage Fashion

Vintage style stamping is one of the styles I most admire...and I am cautious to attempt myself.  Well, I gotta tell you, this frame stamp made it easy peasy!

I stamped the frame stamp (French Script Frame SKU:583 ) with Chalk Ink-Chestnut Roan on some patterned paper, and inked the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Victorian Velvet and Tattered Rose).  The main image was inked with Artprint Brown.  I cropped that to fit in the frame and inked that piece as well.  I also used a distress tool to rough up the edges.

The sentiment (Fashion Fades Text SKU:235-07) was also stamped with the chalk ink, then die cut and inked.


My paper roses (Martha Stewart brand) were a bit too bright--so they got a touch of ink, too!


Foam tape, a dark brown mat, and a ribbon bow (May Arts Ribbon) were used to tie this card together.

Spooky Birds

Are the "Goblins" around you getting restless??? Thankfully, the littlest goblin at my house has done her "trick or treating" last weekend at the Toledo Zoo!

We have been having some spectacular sunrises and sunsets around here!  They have provided some WONDERFUL inspiration for me!

Like this:

The sky was created by adhering a die cut circle on top of my image with a TEMPORARY adhesive.  I then sponged ink using Ranger's Ink Blending tool around the circle and the edges of the image.  Then I used a diecut scalloped circle to make the clouds (some before and some after the die cut circle was removed.

The technique for the bow is one that I have not used in YEARS!!  I thought it was perfect for this card, though--a little feathery!  It is called "frayed ribbon".  I first became familiar with this technique with the "Technique Lovers Challenge #106".  The originator, Chris Smith, of this has a step by step of this on SplitCoastStampers  and her blog "From My Ink Pad to Yours".

• Accessories: Ribbon (May Arts Ribbon), Spellbinders dies for masks; Ink Blending Tool, Chipboard Stickers (American Crafts);

A little spooky...A little late...

We have been having some drama around here.  We were without power for the majority of this past weekend, and now I am just getting caught up!

 One thing that I missed was the Rubbernecker Fall Blog Hop!  The card was 99% ready, when the power went out...and that is where the drama began.   I say drama, because there was no loss of property, no health endangerment, and it was only light raining outside (no snow, hail, tornadoes or freezing rain).

Here is my late contribution to the hop:

What I used:

• Stamps: Sleepy Hollow Tree SKU:590; and sentiment; all from Rubbernecker;
• Ink: Dark Brown Fluid Chalk Ink; Tim Holtz Distress ink (in order from bottom to top) Chipped Sapphire, Dusty Concord, Aged Mahogany, Barn Door; 
• Paper: white, brown, dark and light purple cardstocks;
• Accessories: Spellbinder's dies; ticket corner punch, edge distress tool, Stickles glitter glue;

How I did it: 
I stamped the tree image with the Fluid Chalk Ink (it is waterproof and will not smear; Dark Brown).  I punched a circle from a scrap and applied removable adhesive to the back and placed it on the image.  This will become the moon.  

Using a scalloped circle for a template (experiment with different sizes for different effects)I started at the bottom and worked my way to the top of the image (see product list for colors and order) with an ink blending tool.


I then removed the punched circle.  I added Stickles glitter glue and smeared it to become fog.  I cropped and mounted the image and distressed and inked the edges.  The sentiment was inked and mounted as well.
