Summer!?!

Tee Hee!!!

Yes it is (in my little mind)!  I remember many summer nights camping in the back yard in a little green tent.  Like a mini adventure.

This weeks color challenge was just so summery to me.  (not that I am obsessed with dreaming of warmer weather--or anything like that, mind you)

CC207-Happy Summer

Deets:

  • Stamps: Fern Leaf Tooled Leather, Tropic Sentiment (collection #1), tent (DoodleFactory: the Great Outdoors);
  • Paper: GP-white, Bazzill-kiwi-ish, MME-dotted dp;
  • Ink: Tuxedo Black and Pear Tart Memento Ink
  • Accessories: buttons, Prismacolor markers and pencils, Copic markers, glitter (Martha Stewart Ultra fine);

I am not quite ready to pitch a tent in my back yard but, I am looking forward to the day I can send the kids out!!  It is their turn for adventure!!!

Thanks for stopping by!

The Birds Are Singing

Not outside, but on the card...

It is snowing here....AGAIN!!

And sadly, I know it is not the last snow of the season--far from it.  I live considerably south of where I did this time last year--and I think somewhere I got it into my head that there would be less snow.  An in a way there is...but not the "less" that I had envisioned.

So, though I shiver while stamping...I can still pretend that flowers, blooming and birds are laying eggs, and that those eggs are hatching with cute little birds:

You make my heart sing

I bought this set last year as a Mother's Day gift to myself.  I haven't used it much--as it had to be packed up shortly afterward.

The birds are first shaded a bit with alcohol markers (Copic and Prismacolor) and then colored with colored pencils.

The sky was sponged with Antique Linen and Broken China Tim Holtz Distress Ink.  The bird tracks were stamped with Frayed Burlap.

The card base is watercolor paper--and the ribbon is May Arts ribbon.  The images were stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento on Georgia Pacific white cardstock.

Thanks for stopping by!

Sock monkey?? and CPS Sponsor

When I first saw Malbec from DoodleFactory not only did I think it was just the CUTEST monkey, but I also thought it was a sock monkey.  I think I may have been alone in this opinion, because none of my design teammates NOR Irene, the genius behind the DoodleFactory images, seem to see him this way.

I would like to tell  you that this is the first time I have ever seen something differently than others, but ....

CPS102-Sock it to me

This card uses this week's CPS sketch!  AND Starving Artistamps is one of the sponsors this week!!!

CPS102

  • Stamps: Malbec by DoodleFactory and plaque set;
  • Paper: DP from Cosmo Cricket and Daisy Bucket; colored cardstock from Bazzill and SU!;
  • Ink: Memento: Tuxedo Black and Rich Cocoa;
  • Accessories: Scalloped scissors, buttons, ribbon, brad, foam tape and edge punch

Just words...

Friday's Limited Supply Challenge, hosted by Miss Boo, was to limit the stamps to only sentiment stamps.  Not so easy for use stampers!!!

So I pulled out this great "Be My Valentine" sentiment by Stamp Oasis by Rubbernecker Stamp Company.

LSC206-My Valentine jms

I love how it coordinates with this fun/funky paper by "Me and My Big Ideas."  It is an interesting mix of colors that if put together any other way--would tend to make me go "EEW."  But somehow here, it works.

Other Deets:

Paper: colored cardstock from Bazzill and DCWV, white from Georgia Pacific, dp by MAMBI

Ink: Aged Mahogany Tim Holtz Distress Ink

Accessories: Grungeboard Mini's, stickles, brad, buttons, flower, dew droppy thingies, punched flower

Have you visited the Rubbernecker Stamp Company home page lately??  There is information on how to get free stamps with purchase.  ALSO, there is a SALE section!!  (I love sales!)

sasbanner

What’s this all about?!?

 Irene, the genius behind the DoodleFactory illustrations, thought it would be fun to put the design team to work creating some super cool brand new projects with our brand new release!  And since this release is a whole lot different than what we have done in the past we thought we should do something to mark its arrival into the stamp world! We are so excited to see what you think of it and we really CAN’T WAIT to show it to you.

So what you need to do is go to the Starving Artistamps Blog on February 7 and you will find a list of our designers blogs.  Start at the first name on the list and visit her blog to see her fun new release project(s) she will give you the link to the next designer’s blog and you can pop in over there to see the next great project and so on and so forth down the list it will go!

You are going to want to visit all the blogs because one of them will be giving you some information on some delicious blog candy.

What is it?!?!.......Well… you will just have to wait and see!  So mark your calendar, save the date, stick up a post it, or write it on your hand but do whatever you have to do to be here on February 7th for our first new release BLOG HOP!!

The other extreme...

My last post was a clean and simple card...and today I am going to the other direction.  This card is "Colorful and Busy" (now known as CAB, *wink*).

SC214-Sweetie

The irony is that after a conversation with a couple of friends, I have decided that my *style* is actually "Middle of the Road" (MotR--Pronounced as motor--vrmm-vrmmm!!).  But I had all of these pretty papers out.......... and the cupcake image is so bold.........well, I guess I just got carried away (for me anyway).

This image and sentiment are from Starving Artistamps:

(and can be 10% off using the code button on the right)

Who knows what tomorrow will bring????

Hey Cupcake!

Last Friday's Limited Supply Challenge was to make a CAS (Clean And Simple) card.  This is not a style that I am comfortable with.  It usually involves stamping on the base layer of the card--and I find that nerve racking.  It usually ends up fine, but like many fears, mine is not rational.

Can I just tell you that I love coloring THESE cupcakes and treats!!!  My head is spinning with different *flavors* to try!!  I also love that it is an *all purpose* cupcake, not a birthday cupcake.  Because, lets face it, some days just NEED cupcakes!!

Hey Cupcake CAS

Materials:

  • Stamps: Lg Cupcake with Cherry by DoodleFactory, Simple Sweet Sayings by Starving Artistamps
  • Paper: DCWV-base card, ki memories dp; white-GP
  • Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento
  • Accessories: felt flower (THANKS SHELLY!) Fuzzy brad, Nestabilities, Stickles, Prismacolor Markers, Glossy Accents;

Need some calorie-free sweets?  Don't forget my discount button for Starving Artistamps and DoodleFactory Stamps at the right!

I hope your day doesn't REQUIRE cupcakes, but if it does, I've got you covered!
