Another day where????

Paradise, of course!
LOL!
This sentiment cracks me up!  I see my physical self surrounded by laundry, boxes, and loud kids, but my mental self is here:
DF Paradise
I love these Tropical DoodleFactory images!!   They have a very fun vibe!
Materials Used:
  • Stamps: Moki, Huts and Palm Tree-Tropical DoodleFactory, Tropical Sentiments (Starving Artistamps);
  • Ink:  Chestnut Roan-Fluid Chalk Ink (Clearsnap); Broken China-Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Ranger);

  • Accessories: Crocheted flowers (Dress-it-up); foam tape; colored pencils (Sanford); Stardust-Stickles (Ranger); Baby oil + stumps; sponge.
Thanks for stopping by my hut!

Did you think I forgot how??

How to stamp, that is!! Frankly, I was not so certain I still knew how, myself.

I decided to pack up my stamping stuff earlier in the packing process than I had planned (so as not to be a distraction from packing--I hate packing and I was not doing well at getting it done).

Shelly (Yes, THE Shelly from Stamp with Shelly) came and helped me set up my stamp area. She is an organizing maniac--I on the other hand can't organize my self to save my life. THANKS SHELLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I decided to start small and easy--and for me, that means using a challenge. I decided to use two challenges the Way to Use It Challenge and the Technique Lover's Challenge. So that meant Birds and Watercoloring with Re-inkers! I love to watercolor! And I have just recently splurged on a bird stamp set---so Viola!

TLC174-WT172 Birdie

There is more information on my SplitCoast Gallery post.

So I will let you go there for the deets (I know, that is a switch). I gotta go feed starving children (not really starving--but enough drama to try to convince me that they are).

I have stamped more--and will post more.....soon!

Thanks!

Where's the stamps????

I have moved (from Northern Lower MI to Metro Detroit)

I would really like to thank the optimistic readers who keep popping back in from time to time thinking sooner or later I will post SOMETHING!  Thanks!

Here is my stamp space:

moving in

I can't get there from here and even if I could, I have unpacked ink, a few embellishments, but no stamps or paper. UUUUUUAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This house is set up nicer for a family of 5 BUT it is SIGNIFICANTLY smaller (every closet is less than half the size of the previous house--and fewer of them).  A bonus is a basement.  But I figure we have about 3 rooms of STUFF in the one basement room.  I am sure it will get better.  Especially as we thin down the stuff that we don't need.  I plan to be able to get to my stamp area by the weekend (although proper lighting is an issue).

If you stamp in the basement and have any CHEAP suggestions, please share!!!! (like how do you keep the spiders out of the patterned paper holders ;) )

IN THE MEAN TIME....

I want to share some news over at Starving Artistamps there are a BUNCH of new sentiments!!!!!  Great for you sentiment collectors, and perfect for those who have been admiring/purchasing the Doodle Factory stamps.  I had a hand in designing some of the Urban  (urban set #1) and Country (a bunch of the country sentiment set) sentiments.

It was great fun!

Don't forget that you can get these at a 10% discount by using the discount code: julidis.  (Or for anything else at Starving Artistamps)

Wish me luck, and thanks for not giving up on me.

June is Bustin' Out All Over

In high school, we performed Carousel, and that song is ringing in my head today.

Today I only have this month's desktop calendar for you.

SP_June2008_FreeDesktop_1024x768

The photos are from my dh's brother's wedding last year.  I actually added some things to the template.  I needed the front pick to be on top of the frame which made it overlap the corner embellishment--so I layered an embellishment on top of that  and added the ric-rac along the bottom.  All elements are free from the Shabby Princess.

A Riley card

This weekend I worked on a card for my sweet little neighbor.  He turns two on Wednesday (though--if you ask his mom, he has been two for a while--lol).  I love his happy-go-lucky personality.  His favorite things to do is go down the slides in our back yard (over and over again) and to throw rocks in the pond across the street.  Since I am short on rocks and slide stamps--I thought this Riley would do the trick.

HSC19 Happy Birthday Olaf

Riley and the plane is paper pieced, as is the banner.  I am not so happy with the banner--Perhaps I will redo it before Wednesday.

I learned a hard lesson with this--don't adhere your paper piecing till the background is done.  You are probably saying, "Well, DUH, Jules!  EVERYBODY knows THAT!!!"  And, I did, too, but I got ahead of myself (a hazard of stamping while my kids are around) and messed up the 1st background and had to cut Riley out again.  (I am getting better at cutting around the antlers!)

I am not going to type up the materials today, you can follow this link to see the list.  Sorry, just not up to it.

My dog died last night, she was 15.  We think she had a heart attack.  Her last day included canned food (a treat because I could tell she was getting stressed about the move--boxes and stuff moving around) and licking up spilt pancake syrup.  I didn't get around to giving her a bath yesterday like I had planned--so another blessing on her last day--she hated her baths.  She died on her walk with dh--one of her favorite things to do.  I just thank God for all of the years she gave me--and the transitions she helped me make.

oops

Blogger went nutz on me--double post.

Real post is here.
