Wacky Wednesday-Tag It!

This week the Wacky Wednesday hostess is the talented Shelly!!
It was no surprise to us,  Rubbernecker “Red Hot Mamas”, that she challenged us to use tags. (as she makes some of the COOLEST tags I have ever seen).  This is a challenge for you, too!  Check out the Rubbernecker Stamp Company BLOG for all of the details!!
I made a tag to go on a gift using the new Teddy bear inchies that will be released tomorrow.  (the diameter of this tag is approximately 4.25”)

Sneak Peek Teddy Bears

Last week my little girl had her last day of Young Fives Kindergarten (Pre-K).  It was a WONDERFUL year for my little girl.  It gave her the time to grow up emotionally while feeding her love of learning (especially her zeal for reading).  She also had the most wonderful teacher and assistant teacher!
The class was called the Kindercubs, so of course a Teddy bear card was needed for the thank you gift.  This card was designed to be tied to a hanging plant (with a fun gift card tucked inside).
Kindercub Thank You
The stamp set I used was Teddy Bear Inchies (to be released 6-25-09) from Rubbernecker Stamp Company.  The little guys are stamped with Chestnut Roan Fluid Chalk Ink and colored with colored pencils.
The DP is from SEI and the cardstock is from Prism.
Come back tomorrow for Wacky Wednesday and the next day for the full set of releases!!!

There are some AWESOME stamps you don’t want to miss!

Yummy drinks!

Today I have completed a couple of challenges using the brand spankin’ new Coffeetime set from Rubbernecker Stamp Company.

The first challenge was the Clean and Simple Challenge #19  from SplitCoastStampers.  It is a sketch challenge based on a card by my fellow Starving Artistamps Design Team Member, Natasha Trupp.

CAS19 Coffee Speaks

This next card answers a challenge from Sharon and her Stamp Simply Challenge #92.  She has asked us to create a card that we would use to put a summer recipe in or on.

I have chosen to send our family “recipe” for yogurt smoothies to a friend.  I actually don’t follow recipes, but this is how we  make smoothies:

  1. In a blender blend frozen berries (we have found that mixed berries work best) with enough milk to almost cover the fruit.  Blend on med/low till mixture flows freely. (add more milk if it gets *stuck*)
  2. Add vanilla or fruit yogurt (approx. 1 to 1 ratio to the fruit added in step one).  Blend again increasing the speed.
  3. Pour into cups and enjoy.

The card:

ssnotime92-Smoothie

To show you the “smoothie-ness”:ssnotime92-Smoothie detail

Smoothies are an inexpensive and healthy snack that my family truly enjoys.  Thanks Sharon for the challenge!

Your Opinion Needed

My gracious and generous mom would like to get me a new digital camera for my birthday (landmark one—next month).  I would like your opinion on cameras.  Sites like Best Buy have reviews, but they are not usually paper crafters taking sills of cards in a basement.  So I am asking YOU!

Needs:

  • Less than $400 (way less hopefully)
  • I photograph cards and people (moving people—i.e. kids)
  • size not too important
  • ease of use not too important either—but I do have to be able to teach my dh to use it
  • Not sure if I need a view finder—feel free to ring in on this point, too

I am interested in all of your advice and experiences.  Feel free to ask me questions.  I can edit this post to respond.

Thanks in advance for your opinion.

Hopefully soon I will have some stamping time and something to post!

It is Wednesday, already.  I am having a marathon week of school and family activities.  If I make it to Monday—it will be nothing short of a MIRACLE!!
Today’s hostess for the Rubbernecker Wacky Wednesday Challenge is JOAN!  She has challenged us (and YOU!) to make Father’s Day cards.
I haven’t had a father in 30 years, so I often forget my poor husband on that day.  So this year, I thought to make a card that is just for him! (note: sentiment is computer generated)
Father's Day

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black;
Paper: Prism: Super Smooth White; 7 Gypsies DP;

Double Blog Challenge

A miracle has happened!  I was able to stamp this weekend! WOO HOO!!!

I was inspired by to challenge blogs: 2 Sketches 4 You and Color Throwdown. (click on the hyper links to seek the sketch and the challenge colors)

2s4u-ctd45-Bloom Happiness

Stamps: Wildflower Set; Abstract Floral Background; Wildflower Background; all from Rubbernecker Stamp Company;

Paper: Prism Super Smooth White; Green Galore, Pink Passion and Chocolate Chip (SU!);

Ink: Dark Brown Fluid Chalk Ink; Gable Green Classic SU!; Frayed Burlap-Tim Holtz Distress Ink;

Accessories: jewels-Michaels, May Arts Ribbon; Foam tape; Prismacolor Pencils; Martha Stewart border punch;

These colors did frighten me at first, but they grew on me as I used them. Of course I didn’t have any dp that fit—but that is the beauty of background stamps!!

I hope you are having a lovely weekend!  We are heading out to a picnic tomorrow with some other families tomorrow—so I am glad I got my stamping in while I could!

Thanks for stopping by!

ETA: Please learn from my own mistake.  I did not read the fine print on the 2 Sketches 4 You  site and I didn’t follow the contest rules.  While this does not diminish the joy in creating the card, it is frustrating to disqualify myself from the contest.

Live and learn.
