Ruffles and Prayers

My design inspiration comes from the A Day For Daisies Blog, today.  The challenge is to use a ruffle on our projects.
Digital Stamp: Tender Thoughts from A Day for Daisies; Sentiment: Serenity from Verve;
 I love how innocent this image is.  Like other A Day for Daisies images... it was a joy to color.

The ruffle is punched lace (a Martha Stewart punch).  I punched it out of office paper so it would make a ruffle easily.  The hidden edge is sandwiched with super sticky double sided tape.

Thank you for stopping by... perhaps you can play with the ADFD Challenge, too!

Playing With Crayons

The watercolor floral stamps at Rubbernecker have inspired me to stamp with a medium that I haven't used in a LONG time: watercolor crayons.

These watercolor stamps are just right for them.  My technique was to spritz the stamp with water then color on the stamp with the crayon.  Once I have laid on on all of my colors, I spritz the stamp again with water then stamp onto watercolor paper.

Stamps: Mum (754); Corner Lace (761); Lace Netting (770); Sleeping Beauty(762); Branch Shadow (718); All from Rubbernecker Stamps.

Thanks for stopping by, today!

Sympathy in Navy

Today I was inspired by the Moxie Fab World, Tuesday Trigger: I'm Craving Navy!
I was completely inspired by the photo.(photo credit)  I love the clean fresh look... white accented by a good dose of navy.

I confess, navy is not a "go to" color of mine, but it is of my daughter and while working with it, a few other color/navy combinations came to mind... so don't be surprised if I go on a navy kick for a few days.

My project is a sympathy card.  I have always found they are best made ahead, since there is often too much emotion to make them when needed.

To ink this stamp(Red Poppies from Rubbernecker -- like the irony?) I inked the stems of this stamp with Tim Holtz Distress Ink: Stormy Sky and the blossom with Faded Jeans.  I then took a paint brush inked with Chipped Sapphire and accented some of the details of the stamp.  After a quick "huff" I stamped the image on white cardstock.  The sentiment "In Loving Memory" was stamped with black.

The rest of the card uses background stamps: Abstract Roses embossed in white & Flourish Shadow stamped with Faded Jeans (and edges sponged with Stormy Sky).

Details
Stamps: "Red Poppies", "Abstract Roses", "Flourish Shadow" and "In Loving Memory": all from Rubbernecker Stamp Company:
Inks: Tim Holtz Distress Ink: Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans, and Chipped Sapphire; Memento Tuxedo Black; Versamark;
Cardstock: Super Smooth white and navy from Bazzill;
Accessories: white embossing powder; foam tape, ink blending tool;

I can't wait to see how this Tuesday Trigger inspires others!

Framed Christmas in August

I was inspired by the challenge posted at SplitCoastStampers by my friend, Judy.  The "Technique Lovers' Challenge #442" was to create an external frame on a card with the image inside.

Since it is never too early to start on Christmas cards... Here is my card: (I forgot to photograph the inside)
The main image ("Little Angel") was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copic and Shin Han Markers.  The ornaments, star, and halo were embellished with Stickles. The star, halo and candle flames were embellished with Judikins Diamond Glaze.

The background is "Floral Damask" and is stamped with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Iced Spruce (a light green/gray)

Then sentiment is "Peace on Earth" stamped over the background stamp "Silent Night".

All stamps are from Rubbernecker.com.

Other details

  • Stamps: Little Angel, Peace on Earth, Silent Night, Floral Damask: All from Rubbernecker;
  • Inks: Tim Holtz Distress Ink:  Frayed Burlap, Iced Spruce; Memento Tuxedo Black; Copic and Shin Han Markers;
  • Cardstock: Super Smooth White; kraft and black;
  • Accessories: Dies from Spellbinders and Sizzix (Tim Holtz); Stickles, foam tape, buttons;
I enjoyed this challenge!  I hope to see you over at SplitCoast with this challenge, too!

Never will I leave you...

... never will I forsake you.
For this card, I used Tim Holtz Distress Stains.

  1. I dabbed some Broken China and Peeled Paint stain randomly on my craft sheet (non absorbent surface).
  2. Spritz with water.
  3. Drag and smoosh cardstock through the stain.
  4. Ink stamp with Peeled Paint Distress Stain and stamp on cardstock while still damp.
  5. Let dry.

  • Stamps: Brushed Hearts (background; "Never will I" and "Love Birds" all from Rubbernecker.com;
  • Paper: Vanilla (Stampin' Up!), Black and Teal (Bazzill);
  • Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink: Peeled Paint; Memento Tuxedo Black;
