Country Wake Up Call

Today I have a combined challenge card:

The folks at A Day For Daisies are even generous enough to provide a digi for use on the challenge... you can check it out at the above link.  I used some grass that had gone to seed in the front yard as my added nature.

At SplitCoastStampers, my friend Judy challenged us to create some ruffled embellished ribbons.  She suggested beads, but the available bead/ribbon combinations in my stash just weren't doing it for me... so I added buttons.

Details:

  • Images: "Prince of the Coop"from the A Day For Daisies Blog; Lace stamps from Rubbernecker; alpha stamps from Hero Arts;
  • Paper: Patterned Paper from BoBunny and 7 Gypsies; Bazzill cardstock;
  • Ink: Printer; Frayed Burlap, Vintage Photo, and Antique Linen from Tim Holtz Distress Inks;
  • Accessories: Mother of pearl buttons, gingham ribbon, baker twine, Spellbinders die, foam tape, thread, edge distressing tool, file folder punch; grass seed;
There is still time to play along with both challenges!  I hope you can play, too!

Thanks for stopping by!!

I hope you dance

This card is for the sketch challenge SC440 (from SplitCoastStampers) and the Color Throwdown #246. I had to reverse the sketch to make sense with my images.

All stamps are from Rubbernecker Stamp Co.

The "ballet shoes" and the "corner lace" stamps are embossed with white embossing powder.

I didn't have any "rich razzleberry" ink or paper so I did the best with what I had. I used Distress Inks to watercolor... mixing till I got the right color.

Details:

  • Stamps: "Corner Lace", "Ballet Shoes" and "Hope You Dance Text" stamps from Rubbernecker
  • Papers: Bristol Smooth paper and Bazzil cardstocks;
  • Embossing Ink and various colors of Tim Holtz Distress Inks including Black Soot for the sentiment;
  • Accessories: Foam tape, white embossing powder, sandpaper, EK Success border punch, Spellbinders die;

A special thank you to Janette from SplitcoastStampers and Wanda from the Color Throwdown for the great challenges!

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, today!

Give you rest.

"Come to me
all who are weary
and heavy laden
and I will give you rest. ~Matthew 11.28"

All stamps are from Rubbernecker Stamp Company.

The base background was "Antique Lace" stamped off/kissed onto "Horizontal Chevrons" then stamped onto the paper.

I also sponged Frayed Burlap ink over some punched lace (Martha Stewart Punch).
Finally I stamped the a stamp from the "Lace Border Set" and "Lace Circle" to complete the background.

The diecut circle (picot edge circle) was stamped with "Sleeping Beauty".

Tip: to ink the edges of the intricate die cut (Tim Holtz/Sizzix) I used a cotton swab.

Seaside Inspiration

 Sometimes I need a jump start when I start creating.  Color is my usual starting place.  I find the Design Seeds website quite inspiring. I pin many of my favorites to a board on Pinterest.

This particular seed, I could no longer find on the Design Seeds website, but it seemed to be the place to start with this image.  I like the cool light teal paired with the warm grays.

Details:

  • Stamps: all from Rubbernecker: Summer Girl Sunny and Fantasy Vine (You can do a search for these stamps in the rubber stamps area of the Rubbernecker website.)
  • Papers: Cardstock from Bazzil and bristol smooth paper;
  • Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black; Tim Holtz Distress Ink: Pumice Stone; black pigment pen; Copic Markers;
  • Accessories: Foam tape and ribbon;
Thanks for stopping by!
