A little extra

When I am stamping a group of cards like I did on yesterday's post, I usually stamp some extra.

 I do this because this blog is not called "Stampin' With Inky Fingers" for nothing.  I often ruin (or create an opportunity to embellish ;) ) an image with a stray thumbprint--no matter how careful I am.

So if I am aiming for a group of 8 cards, I stamp 10.

Well, by some miracle I was able to have an extra main image yesterday.  So I made another card.

If you caught yesterday's post, it is not too terribly exciting, but I sure like the way it turned out.

Amazing Grace

I first held respect for this hymn when my Great Grandmother was alive (she lived to be 102) and she claimed it as her favorite.  As I grew, I became amazed at the depth of its meaning.

This is a set of cards I made for my husband's office manager. Since she actually sends cards, I made them thin and sendable by keeping most of the stamping on one layer.
I used these steps to do this:

• The butterfly is a negative mask made by die cutting a piece of office paper.  
• I used office paper since it is thin and would allow the music stamp to fill the details.  
• I then lined up another negative mask, this one cut into cardstock so it would be sturdy. I sponged ink to further emphasize the butterfly shape.
• The colorful flourish is stamped using reinkers and custom stamp pad technique. You can see this technique HERE.
• The second step of the flourish (it is a 2-step stamp) I inked it with VersaMark Ink (embossing ink will do) then clear embossed it.  
• I didn't have clear/glitter embossing powder so I sprinkled the embossed area with fine clear glitter and heated the card from underneath.  This re-melted the embossing powder sticking the glitter to the powder.

So that it like three layers on one piece of cardstock!  Lots of visual dimension but very light weight!

Christmas.

With all the Christmas chaos around my home (not that I would have it any other way) I didn't get a could of Christmas projects posted.  The first of which is actually Christmas themed.

This card features two DoodleFactory Sets: Animals II and Santa's Sweet Shoppe.
