Coffee with Holly

One of the sweetest stampers in the world is Holly, a.k.a. Toy on SCS!! She hosted a Dare to be Dirty challenge last week, a sketch challenge. She encouraged many layers. I am ALWAYS amazed on how many layers she puts on--WITHOUT it looking cluttered or overdone!!! I however--can't. I know why--she plans ahead and works out her design in MS Paint before she cuts into a single sheet of paper. I am more of a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants stamper.

So here is what I came up with:

DTGD08Holly Coffee

She also makes a lot of her own dp to match her image when needed--I can do that!!

Thanks to Tim Holtz Distress inks, some fine watercolor brushes, and watercolor paper--I have my own dp!

Thanks, Holly for a fantastic sketch--perhaps I will try the MS Paint thing.......someday!

Joy comes in the morning......

One of my favorite Bible verses is:

Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.

Psalm 30:5

It is on the inside of this card. A bit of encouragement to go with the morning coffee.

This card has been knocking around in my head for quite a while now, and finally came together.

The *joy* stamp is from Printworks and was clear embossed, then the steam was stamped over it and a bit of chalk was smeared over it, too. Then I ironed the image face down on some paper towel to remove the bulk of the embossing powder (because some of the ink and chalk stuck to the embossing). The vertical strip is patterned paper that I stamped on (timeworn trim). The corner is dp with an Anna Griffin corner punch.

Materials (All SU! unless noted):

  • Stamps: Like it a Latte and Timeworn trim; Joy by Printworks

  • Ink: Fluid Chalk Ink: Warm Brown and Chestnut Roan by Clearsnap; Classic Dye Ink: Creamy Caramel and Close to Cocoa

  • Paper: Various Dp's, Whisper White, Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip

  • Accessories: Clear EP, Ribbon (unknown source), Ticket Corner Punch, Deco edge scissors (unknown), AG Corner Punch (All Night Media), Chipboard Heart

Thank you so much for looking!!
