A Card for Today
I was just playing around today, and this is what I came up with .
It is using the set "Like it a Latte", some dimensional paint, white embossing powder, some chalk inks, Pink Passion and some designer paper from My Mind's Eye.
So what do you think about Blog Candy? I am heading into "the city" tomorrow. If I find something fun... maybe we will give this "Blog Candy" thing a try.
Thanks again for stopping by!!

Criss Cross Challenge Crazy
This weeks "Technique Lovers Challenge" (a.k.a. tlc-104) was to create "criss cross cards." You will find the directions (by the talented Michelle Wooderson) in a link at the challenge. They are fairly easy and go pretty quick---and, if I do say so myself, pretty darn cute!
Here is the first one I have did (and it is posted in my SplitCoast Gallery):
I enjoyed using some paper that I had bought last spring and had not used a great deal. (Confession: I have a weakness for large packs of coordinating patterned scrapbook papers. They say the first step is to admit the problem.) They were some travel themed papers from Wal-Mart. I paired this with my new Colorbox Fluid Chalk inks (Dark brown, warm brown, Moss green, and Roan Brown) a little Mello Moss, Ivory Natural, and Close to Cocoa SU! cardstock. Then I added some accents from the Balmy Breezes, Circle of Friendship (to imitate a postmark or passport stamp) , All Year Cheer I, and Everyday Flexible Phrases stamp sets. I also couldn't pass up an opportunity to use my new file tab punch!!
I am fairly happy with the result!
Then came:
The dotted patterned paper is from American Crafts and the stripes is from ProvoCraft. The ribbon and the flower are impulse buys from Wal-Mart (hey, it is the only store in town). The flower had a bead in the center, but I cut that out and stuck the button on. The sentiment is from the "Riveting" hostess set, and uses three circle punches to make that little accent on the bashful blue pull out card. Very Girly!
And finally this one:
Again, using the travel themed paper and the chalk inks. This time using the "Loads of Love" and "Loads of Love Accessories" stamp sets.
These last two were not posted at SplitCoast since I didn't think they sparked any better ideas than what had already been posted for this challenge. So if you want to see more, click here.
Thanks for looking!! Don't be afraid to leave a comment--I approve the comment before they are posted since I was spammed early on in my blogging.
Happy Stamping!

Valentine #4
Well, you may find it ridiculous that I am still posting Valentines. I am posting Valentines because I am still making Valentines. Yes, they are overdue, but is it ever too late to tell someone how much you love them?
This particular Valentine is for my dear 10 yr old son, Will. He is fascinated with Japanese culture. He borrows my Kanji set whenever he wants to stamp something. He also likes red and black. The stamp I used is from the Kanji set and it means "love". I used the Cuttlebug folder to look like old stitching, as if it were a part of an old tapestry. I used some chalks (Stampin' Pastels) and the distressing tool to add to the aged look. The brown (Close to Cocoa) strip is stamped with the Rough Texture Jumbo wheel. I did my best to imitate an Oriental coin. It is the faux metal technique. Ink an area of cardstock with VersaMark, then emboss with gold embossing powder. While the powder is still warm coat with more embossing powder and re-heat emboss. Repeat one more time. While the melted powder is still warm press a stamp inked with VersaMark (Circle of Friendship-hugs and kisses stamp) into it. Wait a moment and remove. It the impression is not satisfactory, reheat and then either restamp or add more embossing powder, reheat, then restamp. I then punch the center out with a .25" square punch and then punched out the "coin" with a 1.25" circle punch. The "coin" is wrapped with red hemp twine and adhered to the back with glue dots.
I really am pleased with the way it turned out! I think my little guy will, too.

Valentine #3
This is for my daughter, Grace. She is 8 going on 30. These are her favorite colors.
The design is from Dawnmercedes from Splitcoaststampers. I tweaked it a bit. Rather than using a 8" square, I used a strip that is 4" x 12". I scored at 4" and 8" and then the first and last square from top left to bottom right (with the front of the paper facing up. Fold on the scores to make a 4" square with two triangle flaps.
Thanks Dawn!!!!!!!!!
Since there will be chocolate in the envelope--I am fairly sure she will like it.

Valentine #2
Okay, my husband should have gotten Valentine #1, but he is second this particular time. I confess--I made this quite a while back for a Stampin' Up! Contest--then chickened out at the last minute. I was then going to finish the journaling and give it to him for Father's Day--but that got so hectic with church and taking my son to soccer camp. (are you sensing a trend here?)
Well, now I am going to do it!
It is not made with chipboard coasters, but just 2 layers of cardstock (Ruby Red) and the most of the embellishments are from a "Pocket and Pieces" kit from Stampin' Up! (the pieces are Black, Confetti White, and Sahara Sand).
It was so fun to make and now it is fun to put little notes in it to him. He is my favorite person on this earth as well as my best friend.
Thanks again for stopping by!! (now on to my three kids' Valentines!)

Valentine #1
Valentine's Day has just snuck up on me!! I will be doing a stamping marathon tonight! (I also have a pretty good head cold *yuck*).
Here is #1 front and inside:
As you can see it is the same layout as yesterday's post. Since I am pretty much in panic mode, I am sticking with the motto "If it ain't broke don't fix it".
This Valentine is for the dog sitter (it doubles as a thank you). A friend of the family kept our dog, Lazarus, while we were out of town. I had to dig this stamp out of my "garage sale" bin. That bin is getting emptier and emptier--I wonder if any thing will be left in it come spring. Hopefully I can take this to the post office tonight so she will get it with regular mail tomorrow.
Thanks for stopping by (stay tuned for more Valentines)!

Valentine Set or *I WON*
I won some blog candy at Scrap-Snap-N-Blog. Check out her site, it is fun, informative, and there are more monthly contests. This is what I won. And here is what I have done with it so far...........As you can see it is three pictures of the same thing. It is a gift of 4" x 4" note cards for my daughter, Gracie's teacher. I have inserted a stabilizer into the envelopes so that the envelopes can be rectangle and not cost extra postage to send. The "purse" is made from a 6" x 6" page protector with the holes cut off. (It also has a Velcro closure and a half circle cut out at the top to facilitate removal of the cards & envelopes).
I hope my daughter's teacher enjoys them--my daughter is confidant that she will.
Thanks for stopping by, again!
