My favorite place to read as a little girl was my moms La-Z-Boy rocker.  So this is a rocking card!  The bottom is diecut to rock back and forth.

You might say this card, rocks!

Clean and Simple Collage

"Clean & Simple" and "Collage" are not often used together, but I thought I would give it a shot.

One of the best parts of Christmas for me are Christmas stories.  Books, audio book, and movies... I love all of them.  And one of the best is Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol.

Whether it is read in print, the audio book (I love the version read by Jim Dale) or a video (I am partial to the Muppet version or the Patrick Stewart version).  It is good a good story to hear again and again.  Reminding us that a decision to change can not only change ourselves, but those lives around us.

First Love...

Isn't it wonderful to have someone who will listen to our every word and give us all the attention we need?

Sometimes that someone is covered in fur... like a kitten.

This pair is a digital image from "A Day for Daisies" new release and is called "Little Kitty Kiss".

I kept this card pretty simple because I was enjoying the image.  I colored the image with Copic markers, but the sky and grass are stamping ink sponged on.  For the grass I used a mask of the girl's back and feet.  For the sky I used a template created by Bev Rochester.

You Spin Me Around

Today begins a new Hambo Hoedown Challenge!
This time we are making interactive cards!

I have made a spinning image card.

• The Skating Monkey is on both sides of the oval.
• Before putting the card into the oval, I will wind up the card (turn it around a few times).  
• When the card is taken out and opened it will unwind and spin around.  
• The bakers twine is attached above and below by a staple (hidden by the designer paper) and adhesive for durability.

A Christmas Fairy

I have taken some "artistic" license with the beautiful image: Fancy Shoes Fairy.  With some shades of red, the flowers in her hair become poinsettias and now she is a Christmas Fairy!

The touches of gold on her wings (Liquid Pearls and Perfect Pearls), the gold ribbon and the gold sequins are touches of gold.

The new challenge on the A Day for Daisies Blog is to add a touch of gold to your projects!

Good Bye... for now

Professional associates and friends of ours have experienced profound loss.  The physical life of their 17 month old, Carl, was claimed by cancer last Friday.

To say that this has upset me is an understatement.  While my faith is not shaken nor moved, I have a deep sense of loss.

And creating a card for the death of a young toddler was not natural.  Subdued colors just didn't seem right... for there was nothing about this child that was subdued.

For sympathy cards, I often go with butterflies... a symbol of resurrection and the recognition that though this life has ended... there is another to come.

I rejoice that Carl has a life now free from lumbar pokes, iv's, ng tubes, catheters, nausea, sores, confinement, sleeplessness... now he is full of joy and praise and in the presence of Christ!

Peace, Joy, Love and Laughter

This card uses one of my FAVORITE Christmas stamp sets.  It is so fun to stamp with!

The tree was stamped with the green (Crushed Olive) then the ribbons in red (Barn Door) and pink (Spun Sugar then the sides touched with Worn Lipstick before stamping).

Each of the snowflakes were stamped first with spun sugar then "rolled" (touch the edges of the stamp in the darker color) in Worn Lipstick.

I went a little crazy with the Stickles... but it is a Christmas card... when better to use Stickles!?!?

Time with you

It is TIME for a new release from A Day For Daisies!

This time it is all vintage!  I have used the "Vintage Floral Clock" image:

I took my inspiration from the french country furniture a childhood friend had in her bedroom.  The curvy lines and flowers take my mind right back!

The computer generated sentiment is: Time spent with you is time well spent.

I Am Thankful For...

The best part of Thanksgiving is taking time out to reflect on what is important and be thankful.

Sometimes, though, it helps to be more intentional to share on what we are thankful.  So, I came up with this pre-dinner project.  Here is the cover:

 And everyone around the table will get one of these (and a pen):

And in each guest's own handwriting (or doodling) we will have a record of what we were thankful for that year!

I use Microsoft Word and Wee Henry Turkey to create these cards.  With some creative cropping and a few lines, I have cards that are easily reproduce.  It might even be fun to leave the cards for the kids blank and layout some colored pencils.

You are one in a Chameleon!

Today is the start of a new twice-a-month challenge over at the Hambo Hoedown!

We are going Clean and Simple (CAS)!

Since it is Mr. Hambo's birthday, mine is a birthday card:

One thing I really love about this Reptile image is his blank shirt!

I replicated a Hawaiian shirt with Copic markers.

The colorful mat is white cardstock and I used the same colors from coloring the image to go around the edge.  This is a great trick if you don't have patterned paper to go with your image.

The mustache buttons are a fun find from JoAnn's!
