A Gothic Challenge

I am sure, if you are from the United States, you are familiar with this painting:

americangothic1

Well, Leigh O'Brien has issued a CHALLENGE.  The challenge is to recreate this painting by using DoodleFactory stamps.

Well, this got my mind going.  AND since temperatures seem to be STUCK below freezing my mind keeps drifting to a warmer place.  Namely, the tropics.

Island Gothic

How'd I do??? Don't Yapples and Moki make a CUUUTE couple?  I also used parts of the Tropical Backdrop and tiki huts from the DoodleFactory Tropics Collection.

C'mon and play!!!  I can't wait to see what others come up with!!

Oh, this is FUNNNY! I thought Leigh already took the characters that fit the painting best, but I love this alter ego version. I really must get back on the challenge wagon and put one of these together.

This is a great twist on the American Gothic painting Juliana! Is that a real piece of hessian fabric or is that background stamped? I love it regardless - just a great piece of detail! And those clouds...well, can ya teach me please?! :D
