Trust

This verse is the first Scripture verse that I ever learned.  I worked in a Swedish imports shop and one of my co-workers taped this verse on the cash register.  Since then, it has been a comfort and a re-direction when things get crazy and there seems to be no earthly logic in a situation.

KK-Proverbs 3-5

The flowers  and grasses are a Kittie Kit—the Outdoor master.  The butterfly is a butterfly inchie, also from Rubbernecker.  The verse is from Verve.

The flowers and butterfly are stamped with Tim Holtz Distress Ink and the scene is stamped on Prism Super Smooth White.

The DP is from Basic Grey.

The ribbon is a soft, yummy and from May Arts.

Have a great day!

If it ain’t broke…

…don’t fix it.

Do you know that saying?  It was popular in my family—which means we probably did things the same way over and over again.

I did a card for the SCS color challenge this week using Sherry’s “inky thing I do” technique.  I liked the way it came out—so….

CTD44-Rejoice

The same basic layout, similar stamps, but using the Color Throwdown #44 colors:

throwdownswatch44

What I did:

First I stamped the sentiment with StazOn (this paper is gonna get wet so a waterproof ink is needed—and I tried stamping the sentiment last with less-than-wonderful results).

Then I stamped the flourish with Barely Banana Craft (pigment) ink and embossed it with a clear-glittery embossing powder.

For the inky colors on my non-stick mat I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink: Weathered Wood and a touch of Dusty Concord (just a little—it is such a STRONG color that it overpowers the Weathered Wood (bordering blue)).  Following the technique, I inked the paper, and heat set it to dry.

The butterfly was first stamped on the card then on vellum and cut out.

STAMPS: Flourish Set and Butterfly Inchies from Rubbernecker; Plain Jane verse from Verve;

So I am sorry if I am in a small rut (as I was finishing the card—I thought of a dozen or so ways I could have done it differently). AND, thanks for stopping by!

Wacky Wednesday: Frame + Sneak Peek

WACKYWEDNESDAYLADIES

Yes, it is Wacky Wednesday!  All of the challenge details are on the Rubbernecker Stamp Company BLOG.  This week, Kittie, has challenged us to use frames!  Use your imagination!  For inspiration check out the design team’s creations (links are to the right here, or check out the list on the Rubbernecker Stamp Company BLOG)!

I thought the new-to-be-released (May 28) set Baby Inchies, would make a cute baby gift. (so come back for the blog stroll tomorrow to see all of the new releases)

Baby Inchie Ensemble

The frame is an unfinished frame from Joann’s.

Baby Inchie Frame

The picture holder is from Mikes (I got it at Christmastime—one of those projects I never got around to completing).  The “feet” are unfinished wooden beads.  I have it holding an envelope to a gift card holder.  I thought this would be a cute presentation for a gift card, that the mom could use to hold a picture of her cherub later.

Baby Inchie Holder

Other deets: the printed papers are from Graphic 45 (Baby 2 Bride), K & Co., and Paper Pizzazz.  The ribbon is May Arts Ribbon from Rubbernecker.  The dots on the feet of the picture holder and the inside of the frame are made with cheap cotton swabs.

The inchies are stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa, colored with Prismacolor pencils, and the edges are inked with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Antique Linen.

What are you going to do for Wacky Wednesday?  Don’t forget to post your link on the Rubbernecker Stamp Company BLOG.

Don’t forget the blog stroll tomorrow (Thursday, May 28)!!

Congrats Grad!

Today’s card is just a quick one for a friend of the family that is graduating from High School this weekend.

Congrats Craig

The card isn’t much—just stamped on Prism Ultra-Smooth White and mounted it on an embossed card.  The  graduate’s name is on the inside.  My moment of  genius was to make the envelope a mortar board with the help of a fuzzy brad, a square of black cardstock, and some embroidery floss.  It is going to a party just for him—so there is no need for his name to be on the front.

Just a reminder, Wednesday is WACKY WEDNESDAYKittie is this weeks hostess—and I have peeked—you are going to LOVE what she has to show you!!

Thanks for stopping by!

There are many many positive things about summer.  That being said, I have to admit that there are a few things that BUG me about summer.

I am posting this on Memorial Day (though you feedblitz people won’t see this till later)…I hope you take some time to remember the folks who made this country safe and free in the past and those who are fighting in the name of freedom today.  Thank you to those who serve—and the families who support them!!!

For Someone Special…

This is just a quick post. Like most of you, I have a busy weekend ahead of me.

Today’s card was made for a special little someone. Her name is Addyson and her first birthday is TODAY! That would make her special enough, but she is spending today (and the last 8 days) in the hospital. Last Thursday she had open heart surgery to repair two holes in her heart and replace a valve.

The surgery was successful, but now this little dear is working on getting off the ventilator. Could you help me pray for her??? And also for strength and peace for her mom!

Thanks!

Now for the card:

Addison Birthday

Kids cards are not my strong suit. I tried to remember what my kids liked at one—and smilie faces were usually a hit. So I used the pattern from Papercrafts Mag’s website: May/June 2009 Patterns.

Thanks for stopping by!

Clean, Simple and Bright

Just a couple of clean and simple cards, today!

The first one is for the CAS15 challenge at SCS.  We were to use mainly black and white--with just a touch of a bold bright color. I chose Gable Green.

CAS15-Isa61-3

Materials:

Stamps: Flourish from the Flourish Set by Rubbernecker; Isaiah 61:3 from Verve

Paper: Prism: Simply Smooth and Black; Gable Green SU!;

Ink: Stazon Jet Black and Gable Green

Accessories: jewels, foam tape, ribbon, punch;

This next card is for a layout on a clean and simple blog: Clean and Simple Stamping.  It is my take on Fall-to Layout #41.  I switched the sentiment and ribbon.

FTL41-Stay Cool

It is difficult to see in the photo but the drinks have stickles applied to the bubbles before the glaze is applied over top.

Materials:

Stamps: Party Time Set form Rubbernecker

Paper: Prism: Simply Smooth, black, Sunflowers Light and Medium

Ink: StazOn-Jet black;

Accessories: Colored pencils, crystal effects, stickles, deco scissors, ribbon, foam tape

I am off to get some more cards done—one for a little girl who turns one tomorrow—and she underwent open-heart surgery last Thursday.  Her name is Addison if you would like to help me pray for her continued recovery.

Thanks for stopping by!

Wacky Wednesday—In Stitches

This week, for Wacky Wednesday our talented leader, Sherry, has posed the challenge to use stitching on our projects. Any kind, machine, hand, or even faux stitching. The details of the challenge can be found on the Rubbernecker Stamp Company BLOG.

My samples for the challenge also have previews of tomorrow’s new stamp releases!!!! As you can see, I was in a Clean and Simple (CAS) mood. These are not quick cards for me—since I have to think about them in such different ways. I really enjoy the look for a change and I love that they can be sent with just one postage stamp.

Ramblings and Mojo Madness

As a milestone birthday approaches I am have times of reflective thought.  Today’s reflective question is why do I blog my stamping.
The number one reason is to chronicle my “adventures”.  I do not keep many of my cards (just the ones I deem ugly and unworthy to go into other’s hands).  They get given as gifts, sent to rubberstamping companies, sold (not so much any more) and a select few get sent out to people as actual greeting cards.  So I have very few cards on hand.  The ones I do have on hand were made 3-4 years ago—and should end up in the recycling bin.
In just browsing a few folders I came up with some of my favorite cards of the winter of 2007-08.  Feel free to take a gander.

On another note; I made a card for this week's Mojo Monday Madness.  I used one of my new Verve Plain Jane Scripture Stamps.
Mojo85~JMS

I hope every one has a happy Mother's Day!

May Flowers

One of my favorite jokes when I was in grade school was:

Q: If April Showers bring May flowers, what do may flowers bring?

A: Pilgrims

(get it?????  May Flowers--Mayflower--boat--Plymouth Rock???)Smiley from millan.net

Anyway….

I have May Flowers for you.  My good friend and I were on a road trip last weekend and we just HAD to stop at a stamp store along the way. (YKWIM???)  Well there was some paper that was just too cute and asked to come home with me.  What could I say??

I hope you like the paper, and the stamp set too for that matter—because  They work REALLY well together.  And since I have the organization skills of a 4 yr old, I am trying to enjoy it and use it up.

friends are flowers

weeds wildflowers

I think the second one is my mom’s birthday card.  The first one uses colored (Prismacolor) pencils and the second one uses watercolors (re-inkers).

Other Deets:

Stamps: Wild Flower Set and Abstract Floral Background  from Rubbernecker;

Paper: Prism: Simply Smooth Ivory; Iced Yellow; DP: Bo Bunny and My Mind’s Eye;

Ink: Chestnut Roan Fluid Chalk Ink;

AND for MORE May Flowers (the floral kind—not the boat kind) Check out my buddy Judy at Joy in a JAR!!  Not only does she have some BEAUTIFUL flowers and ideas on her blog, but she is celebrating her blogaversary and has BLOG CANDY!!

AND come back here TOMORROW (Wednesday) for Wacky Wednesday!!!
